Description
️Visita Matanzas, a province in Cuba that you will fall in love with. Located on the north coast of Cuba, it emerged around its homonymous bay where 4 rivers drain. One of the oldest nicknames for Matanzas, Ciudad de los Puentes, was derived from the various engineering works carried out over time to save the rain currents. It was already known this way when in 1860 it was also called Athens of Cuba.
Details of the route
1st Day: HAVANA - MATANZAS
- Collection of clients and departure for Matanzas.
- First stop of the tour: Poblando de Santa Cruz del Norte, panoramic tour by the historical center of the town, with explanation of its social and economic development. During the tour you will see the old rum distillery and the current rum factory "Havana Club".
- Visit to the old "Hershey" plant, today the "Camilo Cienfuegos" plant, brief stop at the viewpoint of the Hershey Valley and at the train station to explain the project and its history.
- Appreciate the departure of the electric train to Jaruco, one of the few that exist in the country.
- Panoramic tour of the Hershey batey.
- Continue the tour to the town of Jaruco to appreciate the foundational part of the town with the small station or train stop, visit the cathedral and local museum. (Open from Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
- Small stop at the Hershey Gardens, a beautiful place where you will feel in a natural environment, short free time to rest.
- Departure to Matanzas.
- Enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay of Matanzas while having lunch at the "Café Caribe".
- In the afternoon tour of the city with visit to its main places of interest: the Hermitage of Monserrate, the park "La Libertad", the French pharmacy "Triolet", the park "La Vigia" and the Sauto theatre.
- Accommodation and dinner at the Velasco Hotel.
2nd day: MATANZAS- VARADERO
- Hotel pickup.
- Transfer to the protected area "Río Canímar" and ride in speedboats along the river.
- Opportunity to observe a beautiful coral reef that extends along the northern coast of Cuba and snorkel in Punta Maya.
- Visit to the Saturno Caves where you can swim in the fresh waters of a natural pool.
- Lunch at "La Dionisia" farm, tour of the ruins of an old French coffee plantation from the 18th century and free time for horse riding.
- Rural tour by paths and trails to Varadero.
