Gibara, Holguín, Cuba
Gibara, La Villa Blanca (the White Village), as it is also known, is the municipal capital of the same name, belonging to the province of Holguín. Its territory has an area of 626 sq. km., with a population of approximately 72,392 inhabitants. Its population density is 115.6 inhabitants per sq. km., with a growth rate of 4.23 per 1,000. The city’s Urban Historic Center was declared a National Monument by the National Monument Commission on 12 January 2004. Since 2002, it has hosted the Humberto Solás International Non-Budget Film Festival (Festival de Cine Pobre).
