Playa Girón, Matanzas, Cuba
Playa Girón is a small beach located on a karstic axis in the eastern end of Bahía de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs), in south-central Zapata Marshland. It is a town and municipality of the same name, in Matanzas province, which made history in 1961 when it was chosen as one of the landing points for the US mercenary invasion of Bay of Pigs. Because of its history and natural conditions, it is one of the most visited places in the country. The main economic activities in this town are tourism (both domestic and international), fishing and charcoal production. In this regard, your family vacation adventures, as part of your Cuba holiday tour, can take on a history-laden dimension.
