Description

Mensura-Piloto National Park. It is a mountainous territory formed by small mountains in the form of peaks such as Mensura, Mensurita and Gurugú. It began to function as a National Park in 1992. This Protected Area was approved by the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers in 2008. It is a mountainous territory composed of pine forests, charrascales, evergreen microphilous forests, mesophilous semi-deciduous forests, secondary forests and gallery forests with high landscape value and crossed by several rivers and streams, with a floristic richness belonging to one of the most interesting of Cuba, being rich in endemic species, with a representation in the Loma de la Mensura of 293 endemic species of the flora of Cuba and 67 exclusive of this area.

Rich zone in pine forests, solitary, meditative soldiers of uniform green with an orchid, a fern or a diurnal butterfly in the buttonhole; or in bristling charrascales, brown, murmuring, secretly envious of the height and majesty of the pines. In this area there are no human settlements, around it you can find towns like Birán, Guamuta, Pueblo Nuevo de Pinares, among others. In the town of Casimba there is a residence for visitors that provides access to sites of ecological interest and wildlife observation.

• Driver guide specialized in nature, who will show you all the rural, historical, cultural and natural wealth during the trip.
• Welcome to the ecological station and explanation of the activities to be carried out.
• Combined ecotourism activities: starting with a 1 hour walk along a trail accompanied by a specialized guide.
• Visit to the Cueva Fría del Parque La Mensura - Pilotos, during the journey you can enjoy formidable mountain ecosystems concluding in a subway environment endowed with special peculiarities for lovers of speleotourism, on the return the visitor will be seduced by the clear waters of the Poza Rafael.
• Departure from the ecological station by jeep to drive 12 km to Villa Pinares and enjoy an excellent lunch.
• Return to the hotel.
