The Church of San Juan Bautista de Remedios located in San Juan de los Remedios, Villa Clara is attributed to be the oldest church in Cuba. The current church was built in 1692 over the existing structure of a church that was originally built in 1570.

In the mid-1900s, an American millionaire who was able to trace his family tree back to the city of Santa Clara, financed the renovation of the San Juan Bautista de Remedios Church. The bell tower is a neoclassical design and the interior is baroque. Some of the most important features are the ornate roof, the gold leaf and the covered cedar altar.
