The deep basins and trenches of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the straits of Florida and the Bahamas serve as ecological barriers in the distribution and transit of many fish, while large ocean currents connect it with the routes of pelagic and migratory species, which join the rich ichthyofauna of its insular platform.

Santiago de Cuba offers visitors several nautical options. It offers tours and excursions to tourists that allow them to learn about the natural values of the area.
