"Cuban Revolution" Bike Tour

Description

Havana, is a city without equal, full of charm and it makes all those who visit it fall in love. To visit Havana is to feel that mixture of the old with the new, is to discover its history of several centuries, is to feel the joy, to know the customs and traditions of the Cubans, is without a doubt a great experience.

In one day, we will explore the historical sites related to the Cuban Revolution. Experience part of Cuba's history and its current revolution, visiting the places of great historical importance, places where events have taken place that have marked a milestone in the country's history. We will go around the outside of museums, monuments, parks and fortresses while we tell stories and anecdotes of those places, this way we guarantee a more active tour.

Details of the tour

• Departure from the meeting point.
• First stop: Museum of the Revolution, located in what used to be the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Cuba. It shows the most important historical events and processes that took place in the country from its first settlers to the present day, and focuses on the struggles waged by the Cuban people to achieve independence and maintain national sovereignty.
• As part of this museum we find the "Granma", which was the yacht on which 82 revolutionaries, led by Fidel Castro, arrived on the island in 1956 to begin the struggle for liberation.
• We continue to the central park where the first statue erected to José Martí in Cuba is located, from this place you can observe views of the Capitol, the classic and famous hotels Inglaterra and Plaza, the Gran Teatro de La Habana "Alicia Alonso" and the Museum of Fine Arts that treasures works of Universal Art and last but not least the renovated Hotels Gran Manzana, Parque Central and Telégrafo.
• We will visit José Martí's Birthplace, located in front of the historical train station of Havana, which was declared a National Monument in 1949, making it the oldest museum in Havana.
• We will pedal through the Prado, the most beautiful walk in Havana, built in 1772, it is more than 2 km from the Fraternity Park to the Malecón.
• We continue along the Malecón until we reach the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, right in front of the United States Embassy, where Cubans have sung, jumped, shouted and proclaimed their reality to the world.
• We follow the route towards the Plaza de la Revolución, along the way we will see the "Casa de Las Américas" and the Avenida de los Presidentes, so called because on this avenue there are numerous monuments erected in honor of presidents and freedom fighters of Latin America, such as Salvador Allende, former president of Chile, Simón Bolívar, freedom fighter of Venezuela, among others.
• We arrived at the Plaza de la Revolución, a site of singular historical value for having been the scene of many of the main acts and events of the Cuban Revolution. In the great esplanade that makes it up, Party congresses and several international events have been closed and acts of solidarity with brotherly peoples, anniversaries and other important events, general assemblies of the people of Cuba, marches of the fighting people, workers, military and student parades, student graduation and pioneer initiation ceremonies, solemn evenings and farewell mourning acts have been held.
• In this place you will be able to appreciate buildings that surround the square: the National Library, the National Theater, the headquarters of the Cuban Communist Party, some ministries with enormous images and phrases of Ernesto Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos.
• At the end, we return to the meeting point.

Important Notes:

• You should arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour starts.
• At the meeting point, we will give a brief introduction to the electric bicycles, the settings of the clients' bicycles at each individual height and some general information about the roads and traffic regulations in Cuba.
• All participants must travel with their own personal insurance.
• The program is subject to change. Visits to museums depend on opening hours. Modifications/changes possible, depending on the opening hours of the museums.
• The guest should have a good experience in urban cycling. There are no bicycle lanes in Cuba.
• Guests should be able to ride a bicycle comfortably up to 20 kilometers.
• There is no minimum age for children, only a minimum height of 1.40 m
• For the bikers of the future we have trailer seats/trolleys. Maximum weight: 25 kg. The number of seats/trolleys is limited and will always be "on request".
• Sex of the person: female/male (including information, if any, about any special characteristics regarding the person's height, weight, or any disabilities)

TIPS: - It is recommended to wear light clothing, sneakers, closed shoes or tennis shoes, comfortable and appropriate for walking outdoors, sun protection, sunglasses. Rain can be expected at any time.
