“To Topes de Collantes and Cascada el Caburni” Tour
Description:
The Natural Park of Topes de Collantes is the ideal place for nature lovers. It is located in the center of Cuba, in the Sierra del Escambray and 800 meters above sea level. It is a set of mountains, rivers, valleys and caves in their natural state. Due to the great quantity of endemic species, their beautiful jumps and cascades and an ideal microclimate for the flowering of trees and several fruits, this is one of the biggest natural protected areas of Cuba. Due to the characteristics of the climate of the zone, coffee is cultivated, whose plantations will be able to be known while practicing trekking and will be able to delight without it wishes with this Cuban drink.
During the walk, accompanied by your specialized guide, you will be able to observe the reality of rural life in the region, its exuberant fauna and flora. You will be able to appreciate more than 15 species of pines, 12 of eucalyptus and more than 100 ornamental plants, a variety of ferns, medicinal plants, wild orchids and butterflies complementing the beautiful surroundings. Carob, cedar, mahogany, magnolia and teak trees, among others, distinguish the place.
We will observe birds such as the parrot, the tocororo (Cuba's national bird), the negrito, the gavilan, the carpenter, as well as the white-tailed deer, the jibaro pig and the quail, hutias, mollusks, etc.
El Salto de Caburní invites you to enter its crystalline spring waters. The waterfall is 62 feet high and splashes the natural pools, where hikers can swim and refresh themselves.
