Description

The Jobo Rosado Managed Resources Protected Area is one of the areas in Sancti Spíritus where high natural and historical values are found. It is located in the northern municipality of Yaguajay and it is common to observe the tocororo (Priotelus temnurus), the national bird, the cartacuba (Todus multicolor) and the partridge pigeon, categorized as vulnerable. The most numerous groups of fauna are insects with 203 species and birds with 87, followed by mollusks with 35 and reptiles with 21. The area was the route and scene of the wars of independence against Spanish colonialism in the 19th century and other historical events occurred there during the revolutionary struggle in the late 1950s. It has natural pools coming from subway streams, whose waters exhibit a peculiar blue color.

Program

• Arrival to the Jobo Rosado protected area of managed resources in Yaguajay.
• Reception at "Chalet Los Alamos", where you can appreciate the way of life of the farmers, with their fruit trees and domestic and barnyard animals.
• Tour through the Paths of Jobo Rosado.
• In this tour we visit impressive karst formations, product of the accumulation of calcium carbonate over thousands of years, these are the Valdez Cave and Las Solapas de Genaro in the Rancho Querete farm.
• Lunch at Rancho Querete, or possibility to have a picnic lunch at this same place. (optional)

Important.

If you wish, you can make the trip a little longer through the forest to the first camp that Commander Camilo Cienfuegos had when he arrived at Las Villas, near the Jobo Rosado batey. Distance to cover 4500 m.
