"Cuba Through its Music" Tour
Description
Our proposal with this Tour is that you get to know Cuba's history in a different and enjoyable way, and that you better do it through the music that is part of the country's identity and is deeply rooted in our culture.
In this project we will travel from the origins of the different types of music born in Cuba, until the present time, we will know the different musical genres as well as their main exponents. These musics are illustrated with traditional videos from fiestas where we can see the identity traits of each group and their essential contributions to Cuban musical culture.
Categories of the music that arise in Cuba and are part of the identity of the Cuban: Rumba, Son, Danzón, Punto Guajiro, Cuban Son and Afro-Cuban music
Other conference themes are:
The true history of Cuban Son: Son is the most widespread musical expression of the Cuban. Not only within the country, but also internationally.
Caribbean Music - Afro-Caribbean Music: Caribbean music is part of a type of joy that only exists in the Caribbean. This behavior is as attractive to tourists as the beaches, the climate, the vegetation and the architecture typical of the region. Caribbean music and popular dance have become important symbols of identity of its many peoples.
Rumba in Cuba:: It is one of the most dynamic and original expressions of Cuban music. Its influence on the rest of our music is very strong and has come to project itself in the international scope enriching the jazz, the salsa music and at the moment the reggaeton.
Afrocuban jazz or Cuban Jazz:: The history of Cuban jazz is exposed, illustrated with music and videos, exposing the true contributions of the Cuban musical traditions to the enrichment of this expression of the North American music.
Arsenio Rodriguez and the Cuban Son:: Arsenio Rodriguez is considered one of the most important musicians of the Cuban popular music. His contribution was essential, específicamente to the evolution of son in Cuba.
The music of the French Tumba Societies in Cuba:: This music is framed in the context of the Afro-Cuban music, but it shows a curious process of transculturation. In spite of having occurred in Cuba, the members of this fusion were Africans and Frenchmen who settled in this country and came into contact for certain historical reasons.
