Description

Las Salinas is located about 180 kilometers southeast of Havana, in the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, considered the most important and best preserved wetland in the Insular Caribbean.

This excursion is developed through a path that in the first 12 kilometers is composed of semi-deciduous forest, mangroves and swamp forests where the presence of endemic and migratory birds stands out, in its second part are the marshes with a great variety of aquatic birds, predominantly pink flamingos, herons, sevillas, coruas, sparrow hawks and other species of birds and fish and crustaceans. At the end of the trail is the area's management station and recreational sport fishing area.

Its main attraction is the karst and its associated features, diverse vegetation formations with a predominance of semi-deciduous forest. Presence of tectonic faults with water of great transparency. Abundant presence of migratory and endemic ornithofauna. Highly difficult trail, it is done on foot through rocky deformations and flooded caves where you can observe birds and reptiles.
