Visit to the "La Rosita" farm

Description

Soroa, is located in the Sierra del Rosario in Artemisa. It is a privileged place because of the great variety and characteristics of its flora and fauna. In this place is the largest orchid garden in the country, with more than 750 different varieties of orchids. It has a spectacular waterfall of 22 meters high that invites you to take a refreshing bath at any time of year. Soroa is known as the Rainbow of Cuba.

Soroa has other attractions that are of interest to the visitor, that is why to know this place, we have designed a series of tours through several trails located in which the visitor will be able to know other attractions and go into this fascinating natural environment.

Visit to the farm "La Rosita" in this tour the visitor will be able to interact with nature, interpret its values and biodiversity in the area, as well as, go through the buildings of the first settlers settled in this area from France and the Basque Country.

Itinerary

  • Welcome cocktail reception at the Pool Bar of the Hotel Horizontes Soroa.
  • Biosphere transition zone. Explanation of the Kyoto Protocol and the Turquino-Manati Plan, as well as their close interrelationship in the sustainable development, agricultural production and reforestation projects carried out by the local communities.
  • La Pluma" Farm. Explanation of the history of the 19th century coffee plantation in the area. As well as the close relationship between the Institute of Reforestation and the current inhabitants of the old coffee plantation, dedicated to ecological agricultural production.
  • La Rosita" Farm. In this house, which still preserves the typology and materials from when it was built in the 19th century (galvanized iron roof, jocuma beams and cedar boards). The current residents are the family of the descendants of the slaves baptized by the former Basque owners of the land of Hacienda San José de Manantiales; and currently they are dedicated to the cultivation of coffee, attending to nurseries and nearby plantations. You will be able to interact with the family of the house by listening to the anecdotes about the war of independence and the slaves' way of life while tasting a tasty criollo coffee.
